Plant Advanced Technologies (PAT) announces clariant's launch of Rootness Awake, the latest asset co-developed as part of the partnership between the two companies. The new asset joins Prenylium and Rootness Energize, launched in 2020, in Clariant's Premium range.
Rootness Awake is extracted from the roots of Ipomoea batatas more commonly known as sweet potato. The tubers of this perennial plant of the Convolvulaceae family from South America are well known in food.
The patented eco-friendly technology, PAT Milking Plants, offers unique access to the root compartment. It makes it possible to produce from the fine roots of plants grown in aeroponics in greenhouses, without destroying them, molecules of interest normally inaccessible. The increase in yield is considerable compared to traditional productions in open ground due to:
- stimulation of plants to produce these defense molecules (between 50 and 1,000 times more)
- several harvests during the season (between 3 and 6 times more)
- access to all the fin roots richest in assets, impossible to harvest in a traditional environment (about 10 to 20 times more).
The key compound in Rootness Awake is the molecule called DCQ*.
This very difficult to source active ingredient is already known for its remarkable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Clariant reveals this for new anti-aging cosmetic applications around the eyes:
- Reduction of inflammation, puffiness and dark circles
- Strengthening the firmness, integrity and thickness of the skin
- Lightening of skin pigmentation.
As Clariant announces, the activity of the extract has been demonstrated in vitro, ex vivo and in clinical trials. In tests lasting more than 28 days on women aged 18 to 35 with accentuated signs of fatigue, Rootness Awake shows a strong attenuation and smoothing of dark circles, reduction of puffiness and increased accuracy of the eye contour from day 7.
The result is a clearer and more awake look.
Rootness Awake received a particularly noteworthy reception during its launch by Clariant at the Supplier's Day cosmetics show in New York, USA, on May 3 and 4.
The product has been marketed through Clariant's international network since May 2022.
