Each year, the François Coty Association spotlights a perfumer-creator with a strong olfactory universe that still resonates today with the spirit of the father of modern perfumery. On November 28, the 15theFrançois Coty Prize ceremony, presided over by Véronique Coty, great-granddaughter of François Coty, at the Lutétia, one of Paris's most emblematic establishments.

For the first time in its history, this distinction is now open to perfumers from all over the world. Philippe Paparella-Paris, Symrise's senior perfumer based in Sâo Paulo (Brazil), was honored for a lifetime of achievement with the famous trophy designed by
René Lalique in 1927, the iconic Bacchantes vase. The perfumer was chosen by a jury of seven renowned perfumers, all of whom have received the same award since its inception in 2000: Émilie Coppermann, Sophie Labbé, Shyamala Maisondieu, Alberto Morillas, Fabrice Pellegrin, Dominique Ropion and Maurice Roucel, and chaired by one of the world's leading bottle designers, Pierre Dinand.

I am truly grateful and sincerely thank the members of the jury of the Association François Coty. This is an important milestone in my career as a perfumer, and a great encouragement to continue striving for excellence and pushing my creativity even further. I admire all the prizewinners who have gone before me, and their creations, and it's a great honor to join this prestigious community. "Philippe Paparella-Paris, Symrise senior perfumer

This award underlines Philippe's talent and expertise, as well as his remarkable career path. It's a high point in a perfumer's career, and we're particularly proud that this distinction has been bestowed on him. He has signed many winning creations for Symrise, and has shown great audacity and creativity. "Ricardo Omori, Senior Vice President Global Fine Fragrance Symrise.

Philippe Paparella-Paris admits that he has always had the soul of a chemist who loved to mix things. His grandmother was his accomplice, buying him essential oils so that he could create his first eaux de Cologne. It was at the age of 15 that he decided to become a perfumer.

A globe-trotting perfumer, Philippe Paparella-Paris likes to work all over the world, requiring an open mind and the ability to challenge himself regularly. Even if he doesn't consider himself to have his own style, he is more inclined towards the notes of the world.
woody, amber and leathery. For him, creating a fragrance means having the responsibility of bringing something new to the table, while remaining faithful to the brand and its history.
If he's particularly moved by homes with a strong heritage, he enjoys being their protector.
