Today, France is the 2nd largest producer of seaweed in continental Europe, with almost 100,000 tonnes harvested each year, half of which is destined for Algaia SA.<br \/>\nAlgaia SA also has a research and development center in Saint - L\u00f4 in the Manche department, inaugurated in October 2016 and featuring a host of sophisticated equipment and an industrial pilot unit.
