Croda International Plc, creator, manufacturer and supplier of high-performance ingredients and technologies for some of the world's leading brands, announced on January 11 the acquisition of Nautilus Biosciences Canada Inc ('Nautilus'), a marine biotechnology company based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
\nNautilus was founded in 2007 by Professor Russell Kerr, who, together with a team of internationally renowned scientists, focuses on using marine microbial biodiversity to discover new materials and active ingredients. Thanks to this acquisition and the associated patents, Croda will be applying this innovative science to all its business sectors.
\nCroda and Nautilus have successfully collaborated in the past, having worked closely together for the past six years, developing specific applications for skin and hair care as well as plant protection.
\nSteve Foots, CEO of Croda , commented: \"This is yet another clear example of how sustainable innovation fits into our growth plans. With Nautilus now part of the Croda Group, we are further extending our expertise in biotechnology.
