The European Parliament has adopted its position on the proposed revision of the Regulation on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP Regulation). The International Fragrance Association (Ifra) and Cosmetics Europe have welcomed the European Parliament's position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The changes to CLP welcomed by Ifra and Cosmetics Europe include the classification of renewable substances of plant origin and the grouping of substances. According to the two organizations, the adoption of the Parliament's position means that a key element of the Chemical Strategy for Sustainable Development (CSS) is now being put in place.<\/p>

They play an essential role in meeting the EU's ambition to stimulate organic and circular economies.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The European Parliament has recognized that the grouping of chemical substances must be based on science and comply with the provisions of the Reach Regulation\".<\/em>noted Aur\u00e9lie Perrichet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We consider it essential that the provisions and principles proposed by the European Parliament be reflected in the final text following the trilogues,<\/em> emphasized John Chave. The EU Council recognized the need for carefully crafted provisions for the classification of \"complex substances\" (containing more than one constituent) when it adopted its position in June 2023.
