G\u00e9rard Josset, Chairman of the Solabia Group, is banking on exceptional sourcing conditions to expand his range of cosmetic ingredients, as he did for his Brazilian units. Building on its expertise in biotechnologies (fermentation and enzymatic biocatalysis), fine chemistry and plant extraction technologies, the Solabia group has decided to round out its offering by capitalizing on the richness and diversity of algae through the acquisition of Algues & Mer, a company founded in 1994 and headquartered in Ouessant. Indeed, the island of Ouessant is classified as a biosphere reserve of the Mer d'Iroise by Unesco, and boasts a variety of wild and cultivated seaweed populations, far from pesticides, heavy metals and pollution.<\/p>\n

Since its creation, Algues & Mer has distinguished itself in the development of various active molecules, in particular fuco\u00efdanes, sulfated polysaccharides with multiple properties for cosmetic, nutritional and pharmaceutical use (collaboration in progress with Inserm). With this new acquisition, the Solabia Group intends to develop new sources of inspiration, and of course innovation, by applying all its know-how to the rapidly expanding world of algae, and thus strengthen its position as a major player in the world of cosmetic ingredients.<\/p>
