Byome Labs has developed Byome Derma, a skin microbiome diagnostic kit designed for use at the point of sale and in professional settings. The solution uses test strips modeled after antigen tests and a dedicated app to measure several skin parameters in just a few minutes, without the need for specialized equipment.
Microbiological Measurement and Artificial Intelligence
The technology combines artificial intelligence with microbiological data: the AI was trained on more than 5,000 microbiological data points, and the database is powered by a unique strain library. Byome Labs states that these models, developed in collaboration with dermatologists, recommend products compatible with each consumer’s microbiological profile.
Retail Focus and Methodological Comparison
Designed to deliver near-instant results in real-world retail settings, the solution stands out from approaches based on sequencing or PCR in a laboratory, according to the company. A simple app allows users to read and interpret the results provided by the test strips, facilitating integration in stores.
Byome Labs says it is already in talks with several major players in the cosmetics and dermocosmetics industries with a view to retail rollouts and the development of product compatibility programs.
