The Louvre and L'Oréal sublimate beauty through works of art Understanding beauty, its practices, representations and role through the ages and cultures thanks to 108 works of art: this is the tour route offered by the Louvre museum in partnership with L'Oréal. Since November 13, 2024, the Louvre has been offering an original mediation program in the museum's halls thanks to the support of the L'Oréal group. Entitled "De toutes beautés!" (Of all beauties), the program explores over 10,000 years of art and history through a selection of 108 works of art. It highlights the gestures, rituals, objects and practices of beauty, as well as the canons or sublimated visions of beauty. The tour, designed by the Louvre in collaboration with L'Oréal's Art, Culture & Heritage Department, also enables visitors to understand what questions of appearance and beauty say about societies and their transformations. The museum's scientific information is complemented by written and audio mediation. A web-application, accessible by QR code, delivering new content, also offers a lively, immersive experience: works and objects speak and tell their own story in the first person. The application also offers visitors the opportunity to extend this exploration by remaining accessible outside the museum. "The Louvre is the place where we learn about the diversity of beauty and the history of the world, a veritable school for the eye. The dialogue with the L'Oréal teams' expertise in beauty enables us to reach out to our visitors through a new narrative, with a broader look at the museum's collections to reach out to new audiences," said Laurence des Cars, President and CEO of the Musée du Louvre. "Our raison d'être, the idea of creating the beauty that moves the world forward, is to democratize and tell the story of beauty, its plurality and its role since the dawn of humanity. It's a compass that guides our patronage and leads us to seek out new paths and new angles of approach: in this respect, the Louvre is a natural choice, not only because of the richness and diversity of its collections, but also because of its ability to shed light on the most contemporary issues", declared Nicolas Hieronimus, Managing Director of L'Oréal Groupe. According to the two partners, this collaboration contributes to opening our eyes to the diversity of beauty, inviting inclusion and tolerance, across cultures, civilizations and eras. In addition to the visit offered within the museum, a web series co-produced by the Louvre and L'Oréal and broadcast at the beginning of 2025, will enable the youngest visitors to discover and decipher the emblematic works in the tour. L'Oréal and the museum already cooperated in 2023. The cosmetics giant launched the Lancôme x Louvre collection, a limited edition of skincare and make-up products inspired by sculptures.
