Gattefossé: new certifications for its Texas plant

Gattefossé, a supplier of specialty ingredients for the beauty and health industries, announces that it has obtained ISO9001, EFfCI GMP and Excipact certifications for its new production site in Texas.

Gattefossé has invested in the construction of its third production site, strategically located in Lufkin, Texas. Complementing the existing sites in Saint-Priest, France, and Singapore, this plant, operational since July 2024, illustrates the group's ambition to acquire international status.

"The Lufkin plant embodies our commitment to satisfying the needs of our customers, particularly in North America, while reinforcing our business continuity plan. This site will enable us to ensure shorter delivery times, greater production flexibility and a robust alternative solution on three continents."underlines
Kent Skidmore, Lufkin site manager.

Internationally recognized quality standards

The Gattefossé plant in the USA is now certified ISO9001 (quality management), EFfCI GMP (compliance with good manufacturing practice for cosmetic raw materials) and Excipact (compliance with good manufacturing practice for pharmaceutical excipients).

"Obtaining ISO9001, EFfCI GMP and Excipact certifications for our new Lufkin plant is testimony to the strong collaboration between our teams in France and Texas. By pooling our expertise and harmonizing our quality processes, we have created a site that meets the same exacting standards as our other facilities around the world. These certifications reflect our commitment to excellence, guaranteeing our customers safe, high-quality ingredients".says Elisa Ropagnol, Director of Industrial Operations for the Gattefossé group.

Innovation and sustainability at the heart of the project

The Lufkin site specializes in the production of lipid ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. In cosmetics, these functional ingredients act as emulsifiers, emollients and texture agents, offering high-end formulations recognized for their sensory benefits. In pharmaceuticals, lipid excipients play a key role in the formulation of drugs for human and veterinary health. In particular, they improve skin penetration, optimize bioavailability and facilitate taste masking for better treatment acceptability.

The plant uses gravity to reduce energy consumption and minimize its environmental impact. This approach is part of a global approach to sustainability, including the reduction of carbon footprints through local sourcing and short supply chains.

"Our new plant not only increases our production capacity and strengthens our responsible global supply chain. It also embodies our deep commitment to innovation and sustainability. Built to Leed* standards, it sets the benchmark for environmental performance and energy efficiency, paving the way for a more responsible future."explains Elisa Ropagnol.

A locally rooted player

Located in the heart of a dynamic industrial hub, this new 5,800 m² facility
is comparable in size to the historic French production site. The aim is to achieve equivalent production capacity over the next few years.

The Lufkin plant is designed to produce a wide range of ingredients in liquid and solid form, offering the flexibility to respond to market needs.

Some 15 local jobs have been created. At full capacity, the site will employ 30 people, mainly in production and quality control.
