Gerresheimer was awarded the gold medal for the first time for the first time by EcoVadis, a leading provider of sustainability rankings, for the successful implementation of its sustainability strategy.
With 68 points out of a maximum of 100 possible points, Gerresheimer ranks among the top 5% of companies evaluated by EcoVadis and among the top 2% in the industry.
"The EcoVadis Gold Medal is an important step in the successful implementation of our sustainability strategy. Sustainability is one of Gerresheimer's five strategic areas of action in which we are pursuing our ambitious and measurable goals," says Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Gerresheimer AG.
"We are proud that the progress we have made in recent years has been confirmed by an independent external evaluation," added Katja Schnitzler, Senior Group Director of EHS CSR OPEX.
The EcoVadis rating covers a range of non-financial parameters, including environmental, social, ethical and sustainable purchasing. The rating provider evaluates more than 90,000 companies.
The methodology is based on international CSR standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000.
The independent and external evaluation makes Gerresheimer's sustainability performance transparent to all stakeholders. Many international customers in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors use this assessment as part of the regular review of their suppliers for sustainable corporate governance.
