CSR: Gattefossé wins two major awards

Continuing its commitment to CSR, Gattefossé receives ISO 14001:2015 certification for its main production site in France, and is ranked in the top % of the EcoVadis platform, receiving the Platinum medal. According to Gattefossé, these two awards demonstrate the performance of the actions implemented as part of the Group's CSR approach, Gatt'Up&Act.

"It's a fact: major climatic, social and societal changes are transforming everyday life and calling for mobilization. Today, the company's contribution is key to solving the challenges of sustainable development, says the company. For several years now, Gattefossé has made social responsibility an integral part of its development strategy. The company's actions have now been rewarded with two major awards.

ISO 14001: validation of the environmental management system

In October 2021, after two years' work, Gattefossé will obtain ISO 14001 version 2015 certification for its main production site in Saint-Priest (near Lyon). The certificate was validated after the first audit by the certification body SGS.

The implementation of this environmental management system, which is now certified, is aimed at continuously improving the company's performance through more rational use of resources and waste reduction. The company is committed to continuous improvement in order to maintain this certification for the coming years.

EcoVadis: confirmed CSR performance

One month later, the Saint-Priest site was awarded Platinum status by EcoVadis for its exemplary CSR performance, with a score of 74/100. This result, the fruit of the collective efforts of all our teams, represents an increase of four points compared with 2020. It places Gattefossé among the top 1% companies assessed by EcoVadis in its sector, on the themes of environment, social & human rights, ethics and responsible purchasing.

"This leap forward is the result of concrete actions implemented by the company on priority themes: improving the traceability, sustainability and performance of raw materials, reducing direct and indirect carbon emissions, working on the eco-design of ingredients by reducing the impact of their end-of-life".the company says.

Gattefossé also uses EcoVadis to assess the CSR performance of all its suppliers involved in the production of its ingredients. A key tool for encouraging and accelerating social and environmental performance throughout the supply chain.

"Gattefossé has always taken an environmental, social and societal approach to its activities. Today, these two recognitions allow us to materialize our ambitions. ISO 14001 is a formidable structuring tool that will help us achieve our strategic objectives, by taking environmental issues even more strongly into account in the management of the company. The EcoVadis assessment enables us to highlight our strengths and identify areas for improvement. They are also a means of enhancing the work of our teams and increasing the commitment of our employees, while reinforcing the confidence of our stakeholders in the Gattefossé Group".says Laurent Schubnel, Group CSR Manager.

Gatt'Up&Act: a CSR roadmap

For Gattefossé, the primary objective of CSR is to combine sustainable growth and the general interest, in order to lead the transition to an economic model that combines sustainability and performance with all its spheres of influence. This is achieved by structuring our CSR commitments around three key pillars:

  • Protecting the environment: reducing our impact on the climate, conserving resources and demonstrating transparency.
  • Caring for our employees: improving the quality of life at work, and the personal fulfillment and safety of each and every employee.
  • Act as a global citizen: guarantee ethical relations and commit to the common good in the fields of health, science, the environment and solidarity.

"Environmental, social and societal concerns have always been part of the Gattefossé Group's culture. In recent years, our CSR approach has been developed and structured, and is now at the heart of our development strategy. We see CSR as a lever for growth, a source of opportunity and innovation. Through Gatt'Up & Act, we aim to involve all our stakeholders in working for the common good and general interest. I believe in the strength of the collective, and that's how we'll make a difference.emphasizes Group President Ségolène Moyrand-Gros.
