Croda supports charitable organizations through its foundation

Croda, which uses smart science to create, manufacture and sell specialty chemicals, has announced a new £2 million fund dedicated to healthcare.

Croda science touches and enhances the lives of everyone, with a strong focus on supporting the communities in which it operates. As part of its commitment to becomingPeople Positive"The company has decided to set up a corporate foundation to benefit organizations, projects and communities around the world by 2030.

The Croda Foundation succeeded in obtaining charitable status at the end of 2021. It allocates funds to vital livelihood and community projects and aims to increase its impact worldwide, including new grants dedicated to vaccination and health infrastructure projects. Working in partnership with the Croda Foundation, Croda will support the achievement of the Foundation's charitable objectives, working with communities, organizations and charities, and providing access to people, know-how and capital.

To date, the foundation has donated almost £1 million of the £2 million allocated to the health fund to support projects in South Asia, Africa and Brazil that are expected to improve the lives of over 50 million people. The fund finances projects that :

  • Improve vaccination coverage and infrastructure in disadvantaged communities in five Indian states, all of which have a high incidence of COVID-19 and low vaccination rates; train 22,300 people, staffing 3,700 vaccination centers and enabling more than 50 million people to be vaccinated.
  • Provide infrastructure and training for 1,000 rural health professionals and 500 front-line staff in 20 Ugandan provinces to improve the health and well-being of nearly 750,000 people.
  • Dispelling vaccine hesitancy through education and digital inclusion, helping 7,400 people in 10 indigenous tribes in Brazil's Mato Grosso state.

The foundation is planning other projects, and all employees can already vote to nominate an association or project for support.

Steve Foots, CEO of Croda, said: "Today is an important milestone for Croda. We've been planning the creation of the Foundation for many years, and it's fantastic to see it having such a positive impact right from the start of its existence. Through this foundation, we will be able to support more of the UN's SDGs and help make a greater impact on communities around the world."

Rommel Moseley, Executive Director of the Croda Foundation, added: "The Foundation was created based on Croda's firm commitment to be People Positive by 2030. Our board-approved priority areas are improving health and well-being, reducing hunger and poverty, and protecting and restoring forests and ecosystems. The restricted grant announced today supports critical areas of health and vaccine infrastructure projects requiring investment in three regions of the world. This is just the beginning, and underlines our vision to do much more in the future for the communities we support."
