Expanscience renews its B Corp certification with significant advances

Expanscience has announced the renewal of its B Corp certification, testifying to its notable progress in terms of social and environmental impact, with an improvement in its score since 2018.

Laboratoires Expanscience has confirmed the renewal, for the second consecutive time, of its B Corp certification. This label, awarded by the independent organization B Lab, represents global recognition for companies achieving high standards of social and environmental performance. The progress achieved by Expanscience exceeds 23 points since its first certification obtained in 2018.

Increased operational impact

The results of the B Corp assessment testify to the significant improvement in the company's operational impact. Expanscience has intensified the eco-socio-design of its products, stepping up the deployment of life-cycle analyses and adopting an innovative approach to ecotoxicology that includes the assessment of endocrine disruptors. In addition, the use of external certifications such as Fair for Life and FairWild is becoming more frequent, underlining the seriousness of the company's commitment.

In addition, this player in the cosmetics sector, which will become a company with a mission in 2021, will reduce its carbon footprint by 7 % in absolute terms between 2019 and 2024. Among its initiatives, the discontinuation of Mustela wipes production by 2027 and the integration of carbon accounting are key actions. The company also plans to invest in decarbonization solutions for its Epernon plant, notably through the construction of a platform to reduce energy requirements.

Social and community commitment

B Corp recertification underlines not only Expanscience's environmental commitments, but also its social progress. Audits have been carried out in all subsidiaries to ensure compliance with global social guarantee standards. The company emphasizes the ongoing training of its employees worldwide, and works actively with its suppliers to improve their impact, while reinforcing the traceability of its supply chains.

Karen Lemasson, Director of ImpACT and Open Innovation at Expanscience, says: « We are very proud to have renewed this certification, with good collective progress. This is part of our global strategy to make Expanscience a regenerative company by 2040. In this context, Expanscience is reaffirming its ability to reconcile economic health, ecological redirection and social progress. "

Expanscience's desire to actively contribute to the common good is also reflected in its sponsorship and volunteer work, notably through the Mustela Foundation.
