A pioneer in anti-cellulite care, Elancyl joins the Cantabria Labs portfolio, which is committed to developing the brand internationally, building on the properties of its herbal active ingredients from 45 years of innovation and expertise by Pierre Fabre. Elancyl, which markets its products in more than 20 countries and enjoys a leading position in France, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Poland, achieved sales of 9.8 million euros in 2019.
"As we go through a strange and difficult year, and everything around us is uncertain and on the move, we felt it necessary to be entrepreneurial and to stay on the lookout for strategic opportunities," said Juan Matji, President of Cantabria Labs, about the agreement. Elancyl products have been pioneers in the body care sector, and they enjoy an excellent reputation all over the world. »
Eric Ducournau, Managing Director of Pierre Fabre, also commented on the agreement: "We are pleased to see the Elancyl brand join Cantabria Labs, which is ideally positioned to take it to a new level. As far as Pierre Fabre is concerned, this sale is perfectly consistent with our strategy of focusing our investments in skin care on brands that are based on the recommendation of dermatologists and which primarily target skin subject to pathological conditions, which is not the case of Elancyl today. »
Chinese cosmetics group Yatsen has announced the acquisition of the Galénic skin care brand. This acquisition has been effective since November 1, 2020. Pierre Fabre holds a 10% minority stake in the company created by Yatsen to house Galénic's assets in Europe.
Galénic is a premium skin care brand launched in France and Europe in the late 1970s by Pierre Fabre, pharmacist and galeist, inventor of the dermo-cosmetic that he developed worldwide. Over the years, Galénic has acquired the status of an emblematic French brand through selective pharmacy marketing and regular launches of galenics and original cosmetic assets.
Yatsen will continue to develop Galénic in Europe and launch the brand in China. Yatsen intends to build on Galénic's French identity in its communication with Chinese consumers and will entrust the Pierre Fabre Group with the manufacture of the products and the development of future innovations of the brand.
Commenting on the agreement, David Yuang, founder and CEO of the Yatsen Group, said: "As a young and growing cosmetics group, Yatsen is very honoured to conclude this strategic partnership with Pierre Fabre. Over the years, French brands have become popular with Chinese consumers for their elegance, trendy spirit, refinement and cutting-edge research and development. We are convinced that with the contribution of Pierre Fabre's unique expertise and the excellence of his teams, Yatsen's future growth will be strengthened. »
Éric Ducournau, managing director of the Pierre Fabre Group, said: "We could not have asked for a better buyer for the Galénic brand that was created by our founder, Mr. Pierre Fabre. Galénic is an iconic French brand, and we are confident that Yatsen will take it to a new level by highlighting its French roots with Chinese consumers. »
