Firmenich and MG International Fragrance Company today announced the construction of a new regional perfume production hub at MG International's campus near Istanbul, Turkey. The investment of 47 million Swiss francs will provide 20,000 tonnes of additional capacity to serve the dynamic markets of Turkey, the Middle East and Central Asian countries.

"This project is an important milestone in the partnership Firmenich signed with MG International Fragrance Company in 2019, demonstrating our shared commitment to providing a winning service to our customers and the strength of our commitment to this dynamic region," said Gilbert Ghostine, CEO of Firmenich. This state-of-the-art factory will be a true perfume production hub, meeting the rapidly growing demand of small and medium-sized customers across Turkey, the Middle East and Central Asian countries. »

"We are very proud that our legacy of 186 years of combined commercial experience in the fragrance industry continues with the alliance we started just two years ago," said MG International Fragrance Company CEO Aslan Gülçiçek. Through Firmenich's continued and unparalleled investments in our country and in our business, we demonstrate our determination to be a key player in these important markets in the region. »

The construction of the regional perfume production center was officially launched during a ground-laying ceremony on the campus of MG International and Firmenich, in the Gebze industrial zone. MG International Fragrance Company Honorary President Mişel Gülçiçek, Firmenich's Chief Operating Officer Eric Nicolas, and senior executives from both companies were in attendance. The new facility is expected to be operational before the end of 2023, joining Firmenich's global network of 46 perfume, flavor and ingredient factories around the world.

With an area of approximately 15,000 m2 spread over four floors, the facility will house some of the most advanced digital production technologies and quality assurance laboratories in the industry. The highly automated plant will provide agile, high-quality service to meet the specific needs of small and medium-sized businesses that are booming in the region.

Sustainability criteria were integrated from the outset into the project design, in line with Firmenich's approach and its environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives for 2030. The plant is planned as a Leed(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)certified green building, meeting the highest standards of energy efficiency, environmental protection and working environment.
