The L'Oréal group recently announced an exclusive long-term partnership with luxury brand Jacquemus, reinforced by a minority stake to support its independent development.
Founded in 2009 by Simon Porte Jacquemus, the Parisian brand explores the art of storytelling, the designer's childhood in the South of France, and draws on a multitude of artistic influences.
Over the years, Jacquemus has imagined fashion shows that have gone viral, with catwalks crossing bucolic fields of lavender or wheat; and more recently, staged in unusual locations such as along the canal of the Château de Versailles, "Le Chouchou", at the Fondation Maeght, "Les Sculptures", or at the Casa Malaparte, "La Casa".
Driven by a disruptive digital approach, the brand is now also expanding into retail.
Jacquemus will now pursue its growth with L'Oréal Luxe to develop a beauty line.
According to the newspaper Le Monde, L'Oréal's investment would amount to "of just under 100 million euros".according to an internal source, to "10 % of capital.
"We are delighted to welcome Jacquemus and together unleash its extraordinary potential for luxury beauty. With its singular brand identity, fueled by sensational creativity and expression, Jacquemus will perfectly complement L'Oréal Luxe's portfolio of iconic brands and reinforce our global leadership." says Cyril Chapuy, General Manager of L'Oréal Luxe.
Simon Porte Jacquemus, President, Founder and Creative Director of Jacquemus, states: "Fifteen years ago, I began dreaming and creating Jacquemus, with perfume and beauty always present in my vision of the brand. Today, I'm proud to pursue that dream with the world leader in beauty, L'Oréal. I can't wait to see what the future holds."
